Getting started
1. Give Photos access
SwipePhotoCleaner works with either full library access or limited photo access. For the most complete cleanup results, allow access to the photos you want the app to scan.
2. Start a scan
The app performs a fast first pass so useful results can appear quickly. Background refinement can continue improving detection and categories after the first pass.
3. Review and mark
Move through photos with the swipe controls. Items marked for deletion are collected for one final review before iOS asks you to confirm the deletion.
Swipe controls
- Swipe left / right: move to the next photo.
- Swipe down: mark the current photo for deletion.
- Swipe up: add the current photo to your system Favorites.
- Undo: reverse the last mark and return to the previous photo.
- Double-tap: open a full-screen view.
- Pinch and drag: zoom and inspect fine details.
Scanning & detection
The scanner can surface likely cleanup candidates such as missed shots, closed eyes, blur, exposure problems, similar burst shots, exact duplicates, older screenshots and QR-code images.
There are three detection sensitivity levels. Use a safer setting when you want fewer suggestions, or a more thorough setting when you want the app to surface more candidates for review.
Use High Confidence filtering when you want to start with the safest candidates first.
Deletion, Recently Deleted & recovery
How deletion works
SwipePhotoCleaner does not silently erase your selected photos. After you finish reviewing the deletion list, you confirm once through iOS. The selected photos are then handled by the system Photos library and move to the system Recently Deleted album according to Apple's Photos behavior.
Want to keep something?
Open the deletion review grid before confirmation and remove any item you no longer want to delete.
Private Vault
The Private Vault can be protected with a passcode or Face ID. Photos moved into the vault are removed from the system photo library as part of the vault workflow and can be moved back later.
Keep your device passcode and authentication credentials private. If you use a device-level backup or restore service, review that service's own behavior and policies separately.
Other features
Similar shots
Similar photos are grouped automatically and ranked by sharpness so you can compare candidates before choosing which ones to keep.
Videos
Large and blurry videos appear in a dedicated section. You can preview them, choose from three compression levels, and then delete the original after reviewing the result.
Live Photos
You can convert Live Photos to still images and reclaim space associated with the paired video component.
Search
Search your library using words or a photo. The app is designed to work without requiring you to manually tag every image.
Categories & albums
Browse by time, category, or your own albums, and file photos into custom categories.
ID photos
The built-in ID-photo workflow provides specifications for supported countries and live guidance for head size, gaze, background and lighting, with backdrop and light-retouching options.
Frequently asked questions
Does SwipePhotoCleaner upload my photos?
No. Photo processing is performed on your device. SwipePhotoCleaner does not upload your photo library to a server.
Do I need an account?
No account is required to use the app.
Does the app contain ads or third-party analytics?
No. SwipePhotoCleaner contains no ads and uses no third-party analytics.
Why are some photos not available?
Check the app's Photos permission in iOS Settings. If you selected limited access, the app can only work with the photos iOS makes available to it. You can change the permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Why did the scan results change after the first pass?
The first pass is designed to return results quickly. Additional background refinement can improve categories and confidence as processing continues.
Can I stop and continue later?
Yes. You can leave the app and return later to continue from where you stopped.
How do I contact support?
For support, please contact cookalice987@gmail.com. When reporting a problem, include your iPhone model, iOS version, SwipePhotoCleaner version, and a short description of what happened. Do not send private photos or other sensitive information unless support specifically asks for something necessary.
Before contacting support
- Make sure iOS and SwipePhotoCleaner are updated.
- Check Photos permission in iOS Settings.
- Restart the app and retry the operation.
- For scan issues, allow the scan/refinement process enough time to finish.
- If the issue remains, report your device model, iOS version, app version, and the exact steps that reproduce it.
